FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Jay, where are you based in?

I am based in Los Angeles and Orange County.

2. How many years of photography experience do you have?

My passion in photography spurred from my family’s business in this industry since I was little.  I now have over 8 years of professional experience.

3. What is your photographic style?

My approach is very photo journalistic to capture every detail of your wedding day from the beginning to the end. I also provide directions for my clients who are less comfortable in front of the camera so that they do become more relaxed and natural. I love both candid and “directed” shots!

4. What is the difference between engagement session and studio session?

Engagement session and studio session are both taken prior to your wedding day. Engagement session is a casual shoot at your desired location. The studio session includes all studio services from make-up and hair to an actual in studio session. You may also choose up to one outdoor locations or a second outdoor location in lieu of a studio session.

5. What will I expect from you on the studio session?

There are three parts to the studio session: consultation, photo shoot, preview photo and album design.

Part 1: Consultation is the first step of your photo session. This includes the selection of your gowns and tuxedos (up to 4) for the photo shoot. Hair and make-up is also included in the studio session package and is usually determined on the morning of the shoot. Location(s) is also decided prior to the day of the studio shoot.

Part 2: Photo shoot is the second part to this process. You and your fiancee will arrive at our studio in the morning for the hair, make-up and dressing to begin! This usually takes about one to one and half hours. Then, we start with the studio photos. You will up to four looks, including a different set of hair and make-up for each. On location photos are taken in the latter half of the day after the studio photos.

Part 3: Approximately a week after your photo shoot, you will have the opportunity to preview the photos and make your selections. We highly recommend that you come into our studio to pick out your photos so we can help you understand the potential of each photo for the album. However, online proofing is also available for your convenience. You will have up to three opportunities to approve and make changes to the album design, if necessary. Nothing is printed without your approval so we can ensure that you are happy with the final product!

6. How long does it take for the album and prints to be ready?

You will receive the final products approximately three months from the day of the photo shoot.

7. What will I expect from you on the wedding day?

Brides and grooms are the most natural when they are unaware of the camera. I work unobtrusively so that I capture the most truest emotions from the day. However, I also believe in the value of glamor shots so I will find the opportunity to get more directed shots of you two. For the most part, I stay invisible.

8. I have never taken professional photographs before. Will you show us how to pose and still keep it within our comfort zone?

Definitely! I will guide and direct you every step of the way. Just make sure you come with a happy smile and readiness to have fun!

9. Are there any additional fees that we need to prepare for?

The only fees you may be responsible for is the professional photography permit fees required by certain locations. You should know this in advance.

10. Do you have an assistant with you on the wedding day and/or engagement session?

Yes. Working with an assistant makes the day more efficient!

11. What is a good outdoor location for engagement photos?

This is a personal preference. There isn’t a “bad” or “good” location as long as you are comfortable with it. You may choose a location that plays a significant role in your relationship. You may even consider bringing sentimental props!

12. Do you do weddings overseas / destination weddings?

Yes. I have photographed weddings and engagements in many states in the US including  New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Hawaii, international weddings including Jamaica, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

13. Could you let us know any additional charges that would apply for an engagement session or wedding photos overseas?

Our collection includes fees for destination and overseas weddings and engagement sessions. The cost of flight and (travel, food, hotel) accommodations are required.
